Chlorphenamine 4mg Tablets
Chlorphenamine 4mg tablets are a sedating antihistamine used to relieve allergy symptoms such as hay fever, skin rash, hives, and insect bites.
Precautions:
- May cause drowsiness – do not drive or operate machinery if affected. Avoid alcohol.
- Do not use if you have glaucoma, stomach ulcers, or prostate or bladder problems.
- Consult your doctor before use if you have liver disease, epilepsy, or are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Always read the patient information leaflet before use.
Chlorphenamine works by blocking histamine, a chemical responsible for allergy symptoms. Unlike non-drowsy antihistamines, chlorphenamine has a sedating effect which may help if symptoms disturb sleep.
How to take: Adults and children over 12 years: take 1 tablet every 4-6 hours as needed, up to 6 tablets in 24 hours. Children 6-12 years: take ½ tablet every 4-6 hours, maximum 3 tablets daily. Not suitable for under 6 years.
